Sandeep Singh, Hyannis, Massachusetts, $30.5 million
Sandeep Singh goes by the nickname of Sunny, and when he became a Mega Millions winner in October 2012, I’m sure he felt a bit sunnier than your average 22 year old guy.
Sandeep used to work two jobs, as a bank teller and a salesperson at a box retailer. After his win, I reckon he probably has the biggest account in the local bank, and would only need boxes to move into the new home the money has helped him purchase. Singh went back to college after the win, but really showed that he is also an upright kind of a guy, by giving two weeks’ notice to his employers at the box shop and sitting out his time at the bank till the fiscal year ended in December. Just wondering what a guy like that, who never has to work again would study at college, philosophy maybe?
So, Singh bought his ticket at AM/PM Market in Hyannis, and earned the shop’s owner, Paresh Patel, a tidy little $50,000 sum. Bet he’s not working the night shift anymore either.
As I say, family is the most important thing in this life, and Sandeep’s mum, sister and niece accompanied him when he went to pick up the great big check that was waiting for him at Mega Millions Lottery’s Braintree office. He’s a fast mover, this guy. He was there at Mega Millions the day after he discovered he had won Mega Millions Lottery, by checking his numbers on masslottery.com.
